Absolutely stunning antique Japanese Meiji period vase lamp. This incredible piece features four different high relief lark panels. Each panel is elaborately decorated, even including meticulous details such as feathers, leaf patterns and bark textures on the branches. There are two mythological Baku spirit handles, one on either side of the lamp. Each Baku holds a bronze ring with his trunk.
The 16-petaled Imperial Chrysanthemum appears on the lamp in numerous places throughout the tessellated background and as a border to the lark relief panels. There are also two low relief Oni figures, one on either side of the lamp.
This is a truly magnificent piece. This remarkable lamp is quite large, standing a total of 33 in height, from the base of the lamp to the top of the bulb socket.
The base diameter is approximately 8-1/2. The center, which is the widest part of the lamp, has an impressive 37-1/2 circumference. The lamp is a sturdy 26 pounds.
It does not come with a lamp shade. You will want to find and choose a lamp shade to fit your own desire and decor.
